In 2020, at a time of growing uncertainty regarding food security, a small group of Polish Hill residents and friends revitalized an abandon community garden, and turned it into a farm, with the purpose of growing food for our neighbors and the surrounding community, while learning and teaching each other more about local food production.

We asked Jubilee Food Pantry what kinds of veggies they’d want, and have focused on growing greens and beans, along with the regular assortment of garden veggies. We are all learning as we go, and are always trying to get more organized and welcome new volunteers! The garden can be whatever people want to make it. In 2023, an herbalism class planted medicinal herbs along the outside of the fence. In 2026, we will be having our first mushroom patch! If you’d like to get involved in any way, please do!

Cindy Crabb (she/they)

My sister was a farmer, so I learned a bit by osmosis. My role is to boss people around and tell them what to do a little bit, so they can relax and not have to think about it, and just enjoy their time at the garden. I love talking with people about plants and how to grow things, but am also an introvert and love quite garden time.
